Poison Vial is a potion that can be created using the Alchemy skill. Unlike most other offensive alchemical creations which are meant to be thrown directly at foes, the Poison Vial primarily functions as a buffing enhancement to the player's other weapons. Possession of a Poison Vial in the player character's inventory may also reveal additional, highly contextual options during some dialogues (usually relating to sabotage, assassination, etc).
- Drag and drop directly onto a melee weapon or a stack of missiles/throwing weapons in the inventory to add poison to their attacks
- Upon application to any armament the weapon will then display a small green droplet icon, alongside a number representing the amount of remaining poison-enhanced strikes
- A single vial will poison up to 20 missiles or throwing weapons of any type for one strike each, and is consumed upon doing so; note that if fewer than 20 projectiles exist in the receiving stack, the additional poison will be wasted
- Likewise, one vial will poison any melee weapon for exactly 20 subsequent hits in combat, and does not otherwise degrade or wear off over time
- Reapplication of a new poison vial to an already-poisoned melee weapon will refresh the poison strike counter back to 20, rather than merely adding 20 more strikes; as such, the most frugal alchemists know to use up all existing poison strikes prior to reapplication
- Countered by Antidote, should the player character encounter particularly resourceful foes wielding poisoned weaponry themselves
